Ricky Pierson: Founder & Creative Director of Pierson Media
Ricky Pierson, the driving force behind Pierson Media, brings over two decades of experience and a passion for creativity to the helm of the agency. With a background in graphic design and marketing from Louisiana State University, Ricky’s journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence in the digital marketing arena.
Ricky’s professional odyssey began with a foundation in graphic design, which seamlessly transitioned into web development and digital marketing. His diverse skill set and a keen eye for design have been honed through navigating various roles, from boutique agencies to corporate giants.
Designer at the core. Strategist by experience. Creative problem-solver by nature.
Ricky Pierson is the founder and creative director of Pierson Media. For more than 25 years, he has worked at the intersection of graphic design, web development, technology, and marketing, helping businesses communicate more clearly and create stronger connections with the people they serve.
His career began with design, and that foundation continues to shape how he sees the world. Ricky looks at every business challenge visually and strategically. He sees how information should be organized, how an audience will move through an experience, and how messaging, design, and technology must work together to create action.
For Ricky, great design has never been about decoration. It is about making ideas easier to understand, experiences easier to navigate, and businesses easier to trust.
From Designer to Agency Founder
Ricky studied graphic design and marketing at Louisiana State University before building a career that moved naturally from visual communication into website development and digital marketing. His experience spans boutique creative agencies and major organizations, including Trinity Effects, Disney Information Station (DIS), and Visa.
Each stage added a new layer to his perspective. Design taught him how to communicate visually. Web development taught him how people interact with information. Marketing taught him how to connect those experiences to real business goals.
In 2012, Ricky founded Pierson Media in Miami to give businesses a more thoughtful way to build and manage their online presence. His vision was not simply to create attractive websites. It was to create experiences that communicate clearly, guide people naturally, and help strong businesses look as credible online as they are in real life.
Understand People Before Creating for Them
Ricky believes the best work begins long before anything is designed.
It begins by understanding the client, the audience, the competition, and the environment surrounding the business. What are people looking for? What earns their attention? What creates trust? What causes hesitation? What will help them take the next step?
That curiosity drives every project.
One of Ricky’s foundational principles comes from the user-experience philosophy behind Don’t Make Me Think. People should not have to work to understand a website or figure out where to go next. Clear messaging, intentional page structure, visual hierarchy, and thoughtful navigation should guide them naturally from discovery to decision.
The audience comes first. Everything else, including search visibility, technology, performance, and conversion, is built around creating the best possible experience for that person.
“The work should look exceptional, but it also has to make sense. Design should clarify the message, guide the experience, and help people move forward.”
Beyond the Work
Outside Pierson Media, Ricky is a husband, father of three, marathon runner, guitarist, and lifelong music fan.
Running gives him the discipline to keep moving through difficult stretches. Music keeps him connected to creativity without rules, briefs, or deadlines. Family keeps everything in perspective.
Different parts of his life, but the same approach: stay curious, keep improving, enjoy the process, and put real energy into the things that matter.
